Antizionism

The minyon is antizionist, which is to say we oppose Zionism in theory and in practice. Jewish history and current events both show that nationstates will not keep us safe. Palestinian liberation is a necessary component of the work which brings about Ōlam Habo (the world to come).

As diasporist Jews, we do not wish to center Zionism (positively or negatively) in our Jewish identities nor our davening. But in this difficult time of war, when the norm in Jewish life is unwavering Zionism, we feel a moral and political obligation to explicitly name our politics and provide a spiritual home for dissenting Jews.

In practice, there are a few political differences between us and most orthodox spaces. We do not say prayers for any state or army. We do not display nationalist flags. Dvrai Tōrah (commentaries) may reference antizionist themes, but the emphasis will always be on Tōrah learning.

We do not require that our congregants share our politics in order to daven with us and there is no litmus test to be a part of our community. All Jews—Zionists, non-Zionists, and antizionists—are all welcome as long as they are respectful of the space and each other. Discussion and good-faith arguments are encouraged. We will not tolerate bad-faith arguments nor bad behavior.
